How To Measure Window Screens
How to Measure for Your Window Screens
Measuring for replacement window screens is easier than you might think. With a tape measure and a few minutes, you can get the measurements needed to order your custom screens with confidence.
The Best Method: Measure an Existing Screen
If you have an existing screen that fits your window properly, simply remove it and measure the outside dimensions of the aluminum screen frame.
Measure the Width
Measure from the outside edge of the frame on the left to the outside edge on the right.
Measure the Height
Measure from the outside edge of the top frame to the outside edge of the bottom frame.
For the best fit, measure carefully and provide your dimensions to the nearest 1/16 inch.
Don't Have an Existing Screen?
No problem. You can measure the opening where the screen will be installed.
Because window styles and screen mounting systems vary, take a moment to look at how the screen fits into your window. Measure the area where the outside edges of the finished screen frame will sit.
If you're unsure, don't guess. Our team has decades of experience manufacturing custom window screens and we're happy to help you determine the correct size before you order.
A Few Quick Tips
Always enter measurements as Width × Height.
Measure each window individually—even windows that look identical can vary slightly.
Use a metal tape measure for the most accurate measurement.
Double-check your measurements before placing your order.
Never assume a screen size based only on the window's labeled or nominal size.
